Every insurance company should pay for semen storage as part of a medical treatment. It is now considered malpractice to sterilize a patient without utilizing every attempt possible to preserve his fertility.

Semen banking is a medically necessary precaution against the possible sterility caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy or trans-urethral resection. Semen storage is an essential part of cancer treatment, and as such should be covered in the same manner as the costs for the underlying disease. Some insurance companies will also reimburse you if you are storing because of a vasectomy.
