DONOR TESTING
Donors are screened for the
antibodies to HIV-1, HIV-2, HTLV-I/II, Hepatitis
B, Hepatitis C and other sexually transmitted
diseases, including syphilis, Chlamydia, CMV,
and gonorrhea at the initial screening and are
repeated every three months for as long as a
donor is participating in the donor program.
Because specimens are required to be quarantined
for at least 180 days, donor specimens are not
released until the donor has retested negative
for the above tests.
The following laboratory
tests are also performed during the initial
screening:
